Planning a New Zealand Holiday? Great! Come on down to Waikato this Friday November 20th and enjoy three days of great music of the Whangamata Jazz Art and Blues Festival. Is this only for people who love music? No, I’m talking about fun, fair, and travel in Waikato. This event is happening November 20th – 22nd 2009.

Set in a serene bushland environment surrounded by regenerating native forest and nestled adjacent to the Wentworth River. A number of walks start at the campground and includes mines, waterfalls and extensive views of the coromandel ranges. Wentworth Valley Campground is located on Wentworth Valley Rd and distance is 1.8 km south of Whangamata.

Whangamata Jazz Art and Blues Festival will also include the opening of the Pohutukawa Festival. Live music will fill Whangamata’s main street, and a variety of other locations, throughout the weekend. The main ticketed event, with headline acts, will be held at the Whangamata Sports grounds from NOON onwards, tickets are $25 and will be available from local information centres. Grafton Jacaranda Festival 2009

Stardome’s The Sky Tonight

Ever wondered about things you don’t see beneath the sky? This August come to One Tree Hill Domain, Auckland Central between Tuesdays- Sundays. Join Stardome at 8pm for the Stardome’s most popular show where you’ll learn about the planets, stars and constellations that are visible in the August night sky.

Following the 40-minute tour through August’s night skies, Stardome presenters will give you some unique insights into the myths and misconceptions about the science of astronomy, space and everything in it and the space travel that has taken place to explore it.

Once you’ve heard fact separated from fiction the Stardome team will take you outside into the courtyard, and, weather permitting, spend time viewing the night sky through telescopes.
For an additional $10 on Thurs, Fri & Sat at 9.15pm, you can also view the night sky through the Edith Winstone-Blackwell Zeiss 0.5m telescope, if the night is clear. The Zeiss telescope is still one of the largest available for public viewing in New Zealand. This event is until the end of August 2009.

Royal Darwin Show (July 23-25)

One of the remaining genuine outback at the top end of the Northern Territory will be sharing the delights of it’s premroyal darwin showier events. Come to Darwin Australia and experience the premier event on the Top End community calendar, where city and country come together for three days of competition, entertainment and displays of primary industry, horticulture, art, craft, cooking and photography – The 58th Royal Darwin Show. The official opening is Friday July 24 followed by a parade of livestock and machinery. Visitors of the Royal Darwin Show can enjoy equestrian events, sideshow rides, varied live entertainment and a wide assortment of food and drink stalls that reflect the multicultural nature of Darwin.

Two hundred fourty stalls and counting are expected to display variety of products and information and the animal nursery is extremely popular.
